Rick Warren Library Art Contest Winners

Rick Warren Library will have new window art displayed in the coming months thanks to Elverado High School students. Twenty-three students from Mr. Tim Linduska's art classes at Elverado High School submitted artwork for new window designs. Winners of this contest were: Erin S., Erika W., and Gabe W. Contest winners will transfer and paint their designs and will receive $25 dollars upon completion of this project.

Rick Warren Library board members had a difficult time picking only three winners as entries into this contest were very good. The following Elverado students are also recognized for their artistic talent and effort: Dallas C., Priscilla C., Chelsey C., Kaydee D., Trevor E., Abigail G., Megan H., Caitlyn J., Rebecca K., Cheyenne L., Nikki M., Lacey Q., Jennifer S., Christopher S., Karley S., Alicen T., Joel W., Zach W., and D.. All artwork is displayed at the Rick Warren Library and will be up until February 29th.

FAFSA Help Sessions

Elverado High School is hosting a Financial Aid Help Session on Wednesday, February 1st from 12:30 to 3:00. A representative from ISAC will at the high school on this day to assist parents of college-bound students with completing the FAFSA. Parents needing assistance should bring any documents needed to complete the FAFSA with them, including reports of income and information about assets, such as savings accounts. Please contact Mrs. Rabideau at 568-1104 with any questions.

John A. Logan College will be hosting a Financial Aid Workshop on Sunday, February 26th at 1:00 at the College. This workshop is open to all high school seniors and their families, regardless of whether the students plans to attend JALC or not. Please call the JALC Financial Aid Office for more information at 985-3741.

Lead SI Applications

Applications are available in Mrs. Rabideau's office for Lead SI, a summer program for high school sophomores and juniors who demonstrate leadership in school and community activities. Students will attend an opening three-day overnight retreat in June, then participate in Southern Illinois 101 sessions and community service projects. There is no cost for the program and up to 50 Southern Illinois students will be selected. Applications are due by March 1st.
