The Outsiders
The Outsiders is a coming-of-age novel based in 1965 by S.E. Hinton. The book follows the lives of two rival groups, the Greasers and the Socs, who are divided by their socioeconomic status.
Students in my 7th grade literature classes were intrigued by the front cover of the novel, trying to guess the identity of those pictured. Based upon their curiosity, I asked the students to re-design the cover and explain why they made those particular choices.
