I have heard the possible causes of this are lack of freedom for Southern Illinois and nobody noticing southern Illinois Mrs. Conner believes Chicago controls us (that seems to be the majority opinion)
because of an election were a governor from Chicago won and only Chicago voted for him.
I have also found strong possible preventions. Southern Illinois may not have enough funds so taxes would rise significantly (we are already at an all time high 5.00%. We may be in debt if we do this some people say Northern Illinois makes the money. Remember all of Southern Illinois must vote for this or at least 51%.
Now effects some people will be affected because cuts will be made in things such as welfare food stamps, and medical card. This will be a drastic change if people can’t sustain themselves.
In conclusion the causes of Southern Illinois wanting to become an independent state are lack of a say in things, people ignoring Southern Illinois, Southern Illinois can’t speak its mind, and Southern Illinois control over itself. It will be hard to get people to vote for this because taxes would rise; cuts will be made in important services such as healthcare, welfare, and food stamps.
